In recognition of her continuous pivotal roles and contributions in the
developmental growth of Liberia, most especially Grand Bassa County, youths of
the county having thoroughly observed and analyzed on Monday, July 15,
presented a special statement of appreciation to Her Excellency, Madam Ellen
Johnson Sirleaf. Presenting the document, Bassa Youth Caucus President, Matthew
Z. Bryant said that in keeping with the president Sirleaf promise of youth
employment, empowerment and capacity building, she has appointed the youngest
Assistant Superintendent for Development in Liberia from Grand
Bassa County. He added that the ongoing youth employment program of by the
Ministry of Youths and Sports that he says Grand Bassa County is currently benefiting
speaks volume of President Sirleaf commitment to youth development. “We
wish to also recognize this Administration’s contribution to the establishment
of the Grand Bassa Community College of which young people in the country can
now boast of an institution of higher learning; and as we observed this day
Madam President, we want to applaud you for giving to this county the first
modern highway that meets international safety standards under your
administration”, he noted. Considering her many contributions toward recovery
and reconstruction, the Bassa youth leader recommended that president Sirleaf
remains unfailing with improving the educational condition of every Liberian
youth which he says is one of her key priority areas. In a candid accent, Mr. Bryant
appealed to president Sirleaf for the provision of School Buses to the Grand
Bassa Community College, which he says will help ease the high cost of
students’ transportation to the School New Campus in PaynesBerry. “We would
like to request to your honorable office that students graduating from the
Community College form part of your many programs intended for undergraduates
such as; cadet training, internship, international undergraduate scholarships
and all other programs designed to build the capacity of Liberian students”, he
said. Keeping with the reality of the in flock of patients at the Liberian
Government Hospital in Buchanan, and owing to the fact that it is the only
referral hospital serving the health needs of Grand Bassa, Rivercess and Sinoe
Counties, Mr. Bryant furthered appealed to president Sirleaf that if that she
adds her voice to the voice of the President pro-tempore Gbehzohngar M.
Findley, and the many other voices calling for the construction of a Regional
Referral Hospital from the Chinese Government in order to compliment the
Liberian Government Hospital. Meanwhile, as head of the young people from the
five Statutory Districts in the county, Mr. Bryant promises to continually work
with the local Government in fostering this government agenda for
transformation in order to help restore the ongoing peace and reconciliation
process for economic growth and revitalization.
