Bassa Youth Caucus President, Matthew Z. Bryant
Buchanan, Liberia August 2013
From a resolution that was resolved during the sixth Sitting
of the Grand Bassa County resolution towards empowering youths in the county,
the Bassa Youth Caucus through the Grand Bassa County Authority has embarked on
a two month vacation job for youth and students in the county.
With over two hundred and twenty five needed students and
youths benefitting from the project, according to the Project Coordinator, they
have been recruited from the five statutory Districts of the county.
The project which is been funded through the Grand Bassa
County Development Fund for the period of two months will positively impact the
lives of young people with basic Community
Services, Sanitation and Waste Management skills that will enable students to
develop knowledge in safe hygiene and environmental health awareness.
At the end of the two months
in Sanitation and Waste management, the Project Coordinator, McDelvin Ponnie
disclosed that students who will be evaluated on job well done are expected to
undertake recruitment into a cadet training program and placed into various
offices in order to build their capacities in additional life skills.
Furthering that with the
total Cost of the project totaling thirty thousand sixty-three United States
Dollars ($30,063.00 USD), he noted that with this amount it will be used for
the purchasing of materials and payment of students who work on the job.
At the same time, the Project Monitoring and Evaluation
Officer Matthew Z. Bryant who is also the President of the Bassa Youth Caucus
(BYC), being very impressed, commended the Grand Bassa County Authority for
what he terms as being farsighted in fostering the developing of youths in
county.
The Bassa youth Caucus is the accumulation of youth groupings
in the county, since its establishment in 2008, this has been the largest
project undertaken by the institution through the instrumentality of the
current President Matthew Z. Bryant and the Secretary General, McDelvin Ponnie
who serves as Coordinator of the project.
